I am interested in understanding the role of information and knowledge in social, economic and political development. Specifically, I am focusing on the digitization of information and communication processes in complex social systems.

Before joining USC, I created and coordinated the Information Society Programme of the United Nations Regional Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC) (more widely known under its Spanish acronym CEPAL).
